In
November of 2009, the City of Lamar
received and accepted a grant from the
State Historical Fund for the funding
to undertake an intensive-level
historic and architectural survey of 70
buildings in the downtown business
district. The purpose of this project
includes documenting the core
commercial area’s history,
architectural character and potential
for listing of individual buildings on
the State or National Register of
Historic Places or as local landmarks.
The survey also will determine the
downtown’s potential as a local
or National Register historic district.
On February 1, 2010 a Pre-Survey Public
Meeting was held. It was our chance to
kick-off this project by introducing
Tim and Kris Hoehn, they are the
architects leading this survey, talk
about the purpose, define the
boundaries and discuss the process for
the survey.
We need YOU to participate by sharing any historical information you may have on the buildings. If you have any historical documents and/or photos, or oral history, please contact: Main Street
