Windmill Classic Tournament Results |
|
| The Lamar Parks and Recreation would like to announce the winners of the 2009 Windmill Classic Softball Tournament held at the Lamar Softball Complex on July 10th through the 12th. This year we had 16 teams from Colorado and Kansas come to Lamar with the hope of taking home the traveling trophy and the bragging rights that go along with it. This year the temperature soared as high as some of the homeruns hit in the tournament. The Championship game came down to the two teams that survived the early mornings, late nights and all the stiff competition that goes along with this tournament: The Anderson & Lopez A’s and Team Chingaso. Team Chingaso stayed in the winners’ bracket while the A’s lost a game and had to come through the losers bracket to reach the Championship game. In the Championship game, Team Chingaso was just to much as they used timely base hits and monster homeruns to capture the title. Final score was 19-10. We would like to thank Tracy Fagan, Cade Hardy and Alex Peacock for all their hard work getting the fields ready for play before and after each game. We would also like to thank the umpires and score keepers who kept the tournament running smooth and on time: Dick Peecher, Scott Hardy, Randy Holmen, Robbie Parker, Mike Neuhold, Natalie Anderson, Kerri Sandoval . In addition, a huge Thank You to Dorothy “Bone Crusher” Comer for all your help and support! Everyone involved has made this Windmill Classic Tournament a huge success and one of the best tournaments in the state! A Thank You to all the area merchants who donated awards for the tournament: McDonalds, Burger King, Little Caesars, Desiree’s Sports Bar, Taco Johns , Mr. D’s and Wal Mart. There were a total of 321 home runs and 4 Grand Slams hit in the tournament and all the players look forward to receiving these awards. Once again, congratulations to all the teams that participated this year and we hope to see everyone back next year.
