City Ordinances

• Only 3 dogs per household within Lamar city limits

• Pitbulls are required to be spayed or neutered

• Up-to-date rabies vaccinations are required

• City licenses are required for all dogs living within city limits

  • City licenses are free; bring proof of rabies vaccination to the police station to register your dog​

  • Should your pet become lost, the city license helps us reunite you and your dog

FEES

• Impound fees:

  • Dog picked up by owner within 24 hours: $25 with a city license

  • Dog picked up by owner within 24 hours: $35 without a city license

  • Dog picked up by owner 24 hours - day 6: $35 with a city license

  • Dog picked up by owner 24 hours - day 6: $45 without a city license 

• Non-neutered or spayed pitbull: Summons to court

• Adoption fee:

  • 0-25 days at shelter: $50

  • 26 days or longer at shelter: $30
