Position Objectives:

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Maintenance Worker, Senior with the Streets/Sanitation Department. 

Our Streets/Sanitation Department is known for its teamwork and dedication to maintaining, repairing, expanding and cleaning our City streets and town.  Primary responsibilities include a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work related to street/sanitation maintenance.  We are a small but high performing united team that treats each citizen with dignity and respect.  Majority of work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of public works, sanitation, utility operations, public buildings, and equipment; operates light and medium duty equipment and trucks up to 2 tons on a regular basis.  Work is varied, requiring limited judgment within prescribed standards and procedures; adjusts work methods to meet task requirements.

Applicants must be able to perform and have the following essential functions and physical capabilities:  Vision qualifying for a driver’s license, communication skills to converse and understand instructions, sufficient hearing to insure safe working practices, read information, write reports and fill in forms, hand to eye coordination, good mobility for bending, walking, climbing ladders, etc., lift approximately fifty pounds, ability to hold and use hand tools for maintenance purposes.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a commercial drivers’ license (CDL).  Pre-employment testing is required.  Upon job offer the successful applicant will be required to take a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, pass a pre-employment physical, background test and provide a current motor vehicle record.

Desirable Training and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school and two years of responsible experience in the operation of small trucks and light equipment in construction, maintenance, or related activities
