Lamar, Colorado is located in Prowers county in the southeast corner of the state.  Lamar is a resilient community that has survived booms and busts, good times and bad, and for over 130 years, many of the founding pioneer families still have deep roots in Prowers County. New families that have arrived since the founding pioneers are invested in taking up roots in the rich heritage of our resilient community and creating a future for generations to come.

Ayres Associates with partial funding from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs are assisting Lamar as we move forward in creating a ten-year comprehensive plan that will guide our community into its future. Initial outreach for the project was completed last fall and a website was created to explain efforts giving more information on the timeline and periodic updates. The link to the website is below.

The City is seeking community participation to assist with the plan. You can participate inn one of two groups: The Pathfinder Steering Committee or Navigators Youth Committee

Groups are recommended to have 8-10 strong members with both groups meeting several times before the plan is finalized.  The City is seeking individuals with diverse perspectives to unite faith in our future with each committee providing feedback, assessing data, aligning documents, and reviewing drafted documents.

Everyone who provides input at outreach activities and in surveys will contribute to shaping the plan, along with the committees and Lamar's Planning & Zoning Commission. Lamar City Council will have the majority of responsibility in refining and finalizing its content.
